Microgaming Continues Generous Bursary Program

The online casino software provider, Microgaming proved its commitment to social responsibility once more, after announcing that applications are open for the 2015/2016 Microgaming Bursary initiative. This project was launched last year by the Isle of Man based group, and provides funding to outstanding students on the island who would otherwise be unable to afford further studies due to financial constraints.

In its inaugural year, the Microgaming Bursary provided funding for four exceptional Isle of Man students and provided coverage of living costs and accommodation for the student up to #6,000 per year.

From September this year, the Microgaming Bursary initiative will be managed by the Isle of Man's Department of Education and Children.

Applicants have another few weeks to put in their paperwork, and they need to be eligible for a DEC maintenance grant. They must also have obtained a place in an undergraduate degree course, as approved by the department.

Microgaming Plays it Forward

The head of Microgaming's initiative to do good for the community, PlayItForward, spoke about the second year of the Microgaming Bursary initiative.

"Echoing what we said last year when we launched the Microgaming Bursary initiative, we want to provide the islands next generation of leaders, creators and thinkers with an opportunity of a lifetime, bringing home-grown talent to the fore," said Claire Coleman. "To be able to help four students attend university last year was an absolute honor, and we look forward to assisting a group of students again this year."

Also commenting was the legal and administrative manager at the Department of Education and Children, Andrew Shipley who said: "What Microgaming is offering is a fantastic opportunity for local students, who are potentially unable to attend university for financial reasons, to realise their dream. We know A-Level results are around the corner, so this is an apt time to open applications for the academic year ahead. We encourage anyone who feels they meet the criteria to get in touch."

Microgaming for the Community

Microgaming's PlayItForward initiative is a community driven project which, according to the group, "focuses on the social pillars of health, sport and education."

The project was launched in 2014 and "aims to change the game for place and people."

The initiative has sponsored sports stars, funded university studies and raised cash for scores of charities.

The Microgaming Health and Care Trust also "provides a lifeline for many on the island."
