Microgaming Backs Paralympic Swimming Team

Casino software group, Microgaming is renowned for taking its social responsibility seriously, and is a regular sponsor and contributor to the local Isle of Man community, where the group has its headquarters.

Recently, Microgaming announced that its PlayItForward project, dedicated to help in many sectors on the Isle of Man, will establish and sponsor the first Para Swimming Team on the island.

Microgaming will become title sponsor of the fledgling team, which hopes to compete in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.

The new team currently consists of three swimmers who have the potential to reach so much further in their sport, thanks to Microgaming's generosity.

Ben Grainger, 12, won five medals in the British Para Swimming Championships last year, including two gold medals. Eleven year old Letisha Ellis is due to gain national ranking, while 15 year old Tom Callister ranks second in his age group in Britain in the breaststroke category.

Head Coach Hails Microgaming

The head coach for Isle of Man Swimming, Lee Holland, said that they were thrilled to have Microgaming onboard as an influential supporter.

"The athletes are so excited that their progress and performances have attracted such a credible and enthusiastic sponsor," said Holland. "Everyone involved in swimming on the island are so proud of these inspirational young people and their dedication to their sport.

"With Microgaming on our side, we are hoping to develop a framework and structure similar to the performance pathway we have built for able bodied swimming team, which has had amazing success over the years. Furthermore, we hope that other sports will follow suit in the quest to assist disabled people to achieve the high levels of performance that we as a nation have come to expect from able bodied sports."

Microgaming Inspired By Swimmers

The head of Microgaming's PlayItForward project, Claire Coleman said that the casino software group had been inspired by the stories of the Para Team members.

"It is our pleasure to support this flourishing team; we hope that this announcement will encourage more youngsters living with disabilities to get involved in this enjoyable sport," said Coleman. "We wish Ben, Tom and Letisha the best of luck for the British Para Swimming Championships next month – we are all routing for you!"
