Microgaming to Receive Environmental Award

The Isle of Man based online casino software group, Microgaming is used to winning awards. However, it is particularly proud of its latest award which shows, once again, how much the group is dedicated to its corporate responsibility.

Microgaming's new headquarters, which were opened just a few short weeks ago, achieved the rating of excellence in an environmental rating assessment.

Microgaming announced that its 45,000 square ft complex was awarded the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating of excellent.

The online casino software provider is one of the first buildings on the Isle of Man to achieve what is considered the world's leading environmental sustainability assessment.

New Microgaming Headquarters

Microgaming's new headquarters opened in Douglas on the Isle of Man at the end of last month. It is located directly next to the group's existing building and the two are linked by an innovative sky bridge.

Key features that made the building receive the excellence rating include:

  • Smart lighting - the lights dim automatically to reduce consumption.
  • Air quality and temperature monitoring.
  • Centralized recycling facilities on each floor of the building.
  • Reusable cups to serve drinks in the cafe.
  • Reused construction materials - scaffolding planks were turned into a breakfast area table.
  • Employee friendly - communal area, canteen, coffee shop, darts board, pool tables, library, table tennis tables and more.

Working Close with BREEAM

Microgaming worked closely with the building assessment authority to ensure that it met all the requirements to achieve the excellence rating.

"Following a number of years of hard work and commitment, it's incredibly satisfying to see Sixty Two open," said John Coleman, CFO of Microgaming.

"A lot of time was spent understanding the needs and wants of our employees so that a building could be designed specifically with them in mind," he added. "All involved, including staff and suppliers, should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved - I can't thank them enough."
