Microgaming Signs Deal with Colombian Licensee

Microgaming has made tracks in the Latin American gambling market as its Quickfire brand inked a gaming deal with Columbian licensee, Wplay.co.

This makes Microgaming the first operator to be granted a gaming license in Columbia. Players in the Latin American country will thus be granted access to some of the best of Microgaming's titles.

This is just the first step for Microgaming in the bourgeoning Latin American gambling market, as Wplay.co has plans to expand across the continent and around the world.

New Gambling Regulations in Columbia

Columbia introduced sweeping new online gambling regulations last year. In early 2017, Columbia's gaming regulator, Coljuegos awarded the first online gambling license to the Aquila Global Group.

Aquila entered the Columbia market with its Wplay.co brand and aims to sign up at least one million new customers in the coming years.

To do so, Aquila recognizes that it will need top notch content to attract and maintain a strong customer base. It believes that bringing many of Microgaming's award-winning titles through the Quickfire platform to its players will help its business strategy.  Players will have access to branded slots, progressive games, roulette, blackjack and much more.

Impacting Latin America Gambling Market

The Director of Quickfire at Microgaming, Andew Clucas noted that signing an agreement with WPlay.co was a significant step for Quckfire as the company seeks to make an impact in the Latin American market.

"As the first operator to be granted a gaming license in Colombia, our games will be some of the first to go live in the market, which is undoubtedly a strategic advantage," he said. "We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Wplay.co as we both aim to expand our presence in the region."

Also commenting was the general manager at Wplay.co, Julio Cesar Tamayo.

"Our motto is: simplicity, speed and permanent innovation," he said. "A motto that is linked to the work that has been done by Microgaming for more than two decades."
