Since the first Microgaming was launched in the late nineties, the software firm's spectacular year on year growth has catapulted it to the top of the online gambling software pile. Whilst the number of casinos that use the full Microgaming Viper platform has remained reasonably steady over the last years, the list of licensed operators using the games through the Quickfire platform has exploded. Microgaming's games are available at more onlien casinos than any of their competitors.

On this page we list the companies that operate sites using the software, and list their casinos.

Microgaming Operator History

The early days saw only a handful of operators using the software, most notably The Palace Group, Belle Rock Entertainment, Fortune Lounge and The Jackpot Factory (now all merged under the Digimedia umbrella). Operators such as ITS Limited (known as Casino Rewards, who are still the largest operator in terms of the number of brands under management) and The Roxy Group remain independent to this day.

During the late 2000's Microgaming started targeting the big name high street bookmakers in the United Kingdom and Europe and signed companies like Ladbrokes and numerous other high profile brands to their software.

The real growth in operator numbers came when Microgaming opened up its game platform through Quickfire, which allows for the games to be individually licensed and used on other third party backend systems.

Distribution of the games exploded overnight. There are very few online casinos worth their salt that do not offer Microgaming’s games (unless they are tied into platforms like Playtech and RTG).

QuickFire Growth

One of the reasons that so many casinos are able to offer the Microgaming games is that a number of third party platform operators offer the game titles s part of their own product offering. The likes of EveryMatrix and ProgressPlay have already integrated the Quickfire games into their front-end systems, so their licensees get instant access to the games. There are a couple of hundred casinos out there using these two and other similar platforms.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

Whilst there is a school of thought that suggests that the games being available at so many casinos detracts from their value, we disagree. The upside for players is that they have massive choice. Not only can they pick and choose from a massive list of potential casinos, but they can also choose sites that offer a wider variety of games as the Quickfire game users make use of games from many other providers.
